Metabolic health is influenced by body composition, including muscle mass and visceral fat. Muscle mass plays a role in the performance and quality of body metabolism, while visceral fat around the liver, pancreas, and intestines is an indicator of metabolic health that affects insulin resistance, chronic inflammation, and metabolic diseases. Good training is needed to find the right recipe for maximizing muscle mass and controlling visceral fat levels. This study aims to compare muscle mass and visceral fat in female aquatic athletes to see health parameters without neglecting performance. This study used a cross-sectional design involving 15 subjects from female swimming and diving athletes from the KONI Malang City pool. Measurement of muscle mass and visceral fat used a BIA (Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis) tool. Correlation analysis was used to determine the relationship between muscle mass and visceral fat. The results showed that all research subjects had low muscle mass with a maximum value of 21.03 and visceral fat in the high category of 0.67. Low muscle mass is likely caused by suboptimal training outcomes or by strength training not maximizing muscle mass composition, while high visceral fat can be influenced by poor nutritional management by athletes. Physical performance and metabolic health are crucial, especially in optimizing muscle mass and minimizing visceral fat. Low muscle mass is caused by inadequate training methods, particularly strength training, including a lack of attention to training principles such as intensity, frequency, and loading.
2025-07-19T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Dinta Sugiarto, Dhoni Akbar Ghozali, Ibrah Fastabiqi Bawana Mukti, Ananda Perwira Baktihttps://mahardhika.or.id/jurnal/index.php/jpas/article/view/346PENGARUH KOORDINASI MATA TANGAN DAN DAYA LEDAK OTOT TUNGKAI TERHADAP KETERAMPILAN SMASH BOLA VOLI 2025-07-15T12:48:52+07:00Priti Shinta301210148@sanagustin.ac.idIbrah Fastabiqi Bawana Muktii.mukti@sanagustin.ac.id
This study aims to evaluate the impact of hand-eye coordination and leg muscle strength on smashing ability in volleyball games among UKM students. The method used is pre-experiment with one group pre-test and post-test design. The sample consisted of 16 female students taken using purposive sampling technique. The measuring instruments used in this study included smash accuracy test, wall toss test, and vertical jump test. The training program was carried out for six weeks with a frequency of three meetings a week. The average pretest score of 6.13 increased to 8.88 in the posttest (p = 0.009), indicating a significant increase in smashing skills. Cohen's d value of 0.90, which is included in the large effect category, is explained by the effect size study. These results indicate that improved smashing performance can be achieved through integrated training that builds leg muscle explosive power and eye-hand synchronization. The results of this study conclude that it is very important for student-level volleyball coaching programs to provide targeted activities for both areas. Various answers from the participants indicate that the training needs to be adjusted.
2025-07-22T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Priti shinta Shinta, Ibrah Fastabiqi Bawana Muktihttps://mahardhika.or.id/jurnal/index.php/jpas/article/view/349PENGARUH CARDIO DANCE TERHADAP PENURUNAN TINGKAT STRES PADA WANITA PREMENOPAUSE 2025-07-21T23:57:17+07:00Reno Siska Sarirenosiska87@gmail.comAgusti Mardikaningsihdhika21@gmail.comPraharisti Kurniasariristi33@gmail.comMoh Zainisuccess.zenn@gmail.com
The premenopausal phase is a transitional period characterized by irregular ovulation and menstrual cycles. The research employed a quantitative experimental method using a pretest-posttest two-group design. The subjects consisted of 28 students who actively participated in the basketball extracurricular activity, divided into two treatment groups. The first group received jump shot training, while the second group received bank shot training. The instrument used was a free-throw accuracy test conducted over 10 trials, both before and after the training sessions. The data were analysed using a paired sample t-test, which yielded a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05). This indicates that the null hypothesis is rejected and the alternative hypothesis is accepted. It can be concluded that there is a significant influence of jump shot and bank shot training on improving students’ free-throw accuracy. These types of structured shooting drills are recommended as part of regular training programs to enhance the basic basketball skills of school-level players.
2025-08-06T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 M. However, the applied training pattern is often lacking in variety and is not optimally structured. This study aims to examine the effect of a six-week resistance training program on increasing muscle mass in junior karate athletes. The method used was an experiment with a one-group pretest-posttest design, involving 15 athletes consisting of 8 boys and 7 girls aged 13–15 years. The treatment in the form of resistance training was carried out twice a week, with a training program that included two upper body movements (bench press and upper back row) and two lower body movements (squat and leg extension). The load used was more than 15 RM with a movement tempo of 2–8 seconds. Muscle mass measurements were taken before and after the intervention using the Karada Scan Omron HBF-701, then analyzed through a t-test with the help of SPSS Version 29. The results showed a significant increase in muscle mass of 9% after undergoing resistance training. These findings indicate that a systematically designed resistance training program can help junior karate athletes in increasing strength and speed. Thus, coaches are advised to integrate resistance training into their coaching programs to support the achievement of optimal performance.
2024-08-31T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Indra William Farrel, Alen Rismayadi, Mulyana Mulyana, Widi Kusumah, Geraldi Novianhttps://mahardhika.or.id/jurnal/index.php/jpas/article/view/326TINGKAT MOTIVASI MAHASISWA UKM DALAM MENGIKUTI LATIHAN TENIS LAPANGAN DI UNIVERSITAS ISLAM RIAU2025-06-06T23:15:43+07:00Oki Fhutuh Parakesokifhutuhparakes@student.uir.ac.idRices Jatraricesjatra@edu.uir.ac.id
The problem in this study is that students tend not to use their free time for exercise. Existing facilities are sometimes underutilized or not used at all by students for playing tennis. The awareness of the benefits of exercise is not yet evenly understood among students, causing many of them to spend their free time on leisurely activities rather than engaging in sports, particularly tennis. On the other hand, the management of the Student Activity Unit (UKM) still requires strengthening, such as the insufficient number of coaches and the limited availability of supporting activities such as competitions or specialized training, which also affect students’ motivation to participate actively. The purpose of this study is to determine the Level of Motivation of Student Activity Unit (UKM) Members in participating in Tennis Training at the Islamic University of Riau. This research is a descriptive quantitative study. The population consists of UKM students participating in tennis training at the Islamic University of Riau, totalling 22 individuals. The sampling technique used is total sampling, so the sample in this study also consists of 22 students. The research instrument used was a questionnaire with a Likert scale.
